Welcome to the website of 1st Lydiate Scout Group, based in Lydiate, Merseyside.

The Group is thriving with, at any time, in excess of 120 Young Members and 25 Adult Leaders, supported by 10 Young Leaders in training.

Our 20 strong Management Committee of Adult Volunteers are actively engaged in Fundraising, Financial Management and Administration for the Group.

We run all four of the official Scouting Sections: Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers, each with their own dedicated Leadership Team. For further details on each Section please follow the appropriate links on Section pages.

The aims of our website are twofold: to give the visitor a flavour of Scouting with 1st Lydiate and beyond, and to act as a News & Resource Centre for all of our members. The site will grow as more information is added, so check back regularly for updates.

We hope that you find what you are looking for here or at least a link to it when it exists somewhere else. If not, please use the relevant contact details located around the site to request further information or suggest site improvements.

Beavers (6 to 8)

Beaver Scouts are our youngest members. They usually meet weekly to take part in a wide range of activities including games, crafts, singing, visits and good turns, along with plenty of outdoor activities.

Cub Scouts (8 to 10½)

Cubs take part in a wide range of activities designed to be interesting and challenging. A Cub Scout meeting consists of games and activities with plenty of time spent outdoors.

Scouts (10½ to 14)

Scout Troops consist of small units of six to eight called a Patrol. Outdoor activities feature prominently, with the highlight being camping. Scouts learn various skills in preparation for camp.

Explorers (14 to 18)

Scout Explorers are encouraged to lead themselves in deciding the programme and direction of the Unit, with guidance from group leaders. This section also includes the Young Leaders’ Scheme.
