Car Boot Sale
We have a wide variety of stalls at any sale. Regular sellers who turn up for every sale selling household and cleaning items, paint and varnish, garden and house plants, cakes, even home grown cooking apples to stew and make into delicious pies and crumbles.
Our very own scouts run their own stall at each sale, fuelled by donations from parents and the public alike. Please pay them a visit and show support by buying something as all proceeds from the stall go towards scout activities for young people.
We also welcome newbies who may never have attempted a car boot sale before, perhaps prompted by the children, who seem to love the idea of rising at dawn – until they actually have to do it! Plenty of parents and children turn up early for what promises to be an adventure (children fast asleep in the car!), selling on toys and clothes which the children have grown out of. Many are astonished at how much can be made in a morning.
Finally, a car boot sale wouldn’t be what it is without the public. We have many types of buyer. The regulars, who pop in early, don’t stay long, but know exactly what they’re after. The browsers who will come in look around; have coffee and bacon rolls, then browse again. The indoor café proves to be a meeting place for many, a chance to rest the legs, catch up on gossip or perhaps to dodge a rain shower.
The sale is run entirely by volunteers; parents of young people who are in, or have been through our Scout Group. Some have seen their children move on into adulthood, but still turn out on Saturdays throughout the summer.
Scouting is a registered charity and proceeds from all of our activities, of which the Car Boot Sale is one, are used to maintain our headquarters, provide equipment and support activities for the young people in our Group. We have at any time in excess of 120 members in the four sections; Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers, ages ranging from six to eighteen.
Any support you give, whether by selling or buying is greatly appreciated by us.
Why not make a day of it, take a look at the links page and plan an afternoon activity?
